AVANGAR stun FaZe; MIBR defeat G2 at IEM Katowice

The third round in the New Legends Stage kicked off with AVANGAR's 16-13 Mirage victory over FaZe, and MIBR's 16-12 triumph against G2 on Inferno.

MIBR and G2 squared off on Inferno where the CT-sided Brazilians took the pistol round victory thanks to Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo and Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David's double kills. G2 got on the scoreboard in the fifth round, winning with limited weaponry.

MIBR responded by taking four rounds in a row to lead 8-1 but couldn't keep their streak alive as Lucas "⁠Lucky⁠" Chastang picked up two kills to give his team the tenth round victory. Lucky and Audric "⁠JACKZ⁠" Jug picked up 1vs4 and 1vs3 clutches, respectively, to help G2 get to six rounds before halftime (9-6).

MIBR came out on top in a close match

MIBR secured the second pistol without much trouble and made it 13-6 after winning a 2vs4 in the first weapon round. coldzera added another round to MIBR's tally in the 25th round as he got three Deagle kills in a 2vs3.

coldzera stepped up to the plate once again, this time closing out a 3vs3 post-plant with a triple kill in the 27th round. MIBR finished it off in the following round thanks to Epitacio "⁠TACO⁠" de Melo's entry kill (16-12).

AVANGAR played against FaZe in the other round three game which took place on Mirage. The Kazakhstani side had an incredible start as they claimed the first five rounds on the T-side. FaZe won a 5vs5 post-plant in the sixth round and went on to tie the game at 5-5.

Timur "⁠buster⁠" Tulepov picked up a triple kill as AVANGAR turned around a 3vs5 in the 12th round, leading 7-5. Dzhami "⁠Jame⁠" Ali and Aidyn "⁠KrizzeN⁠" Turlybekov combined in the last round of the half to give AVANGAR the 8-7 lead at halftime.

AVANGAR kept up their impressive performance

Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács’s triple kill was enough for FaZe to win the second pistol round, tying the game at 8-8. AVANGAR hit back in the first weapon round and picked up two more rounds to lead 11-9. FaZe spoiled AVANGAR’s party with pistols to reach double digits (11-10). AVANGAR came back from 13-11 to win the map 16-13, improving their record to 2-1.
