torzsi: "This could be my year, but I hope this will be the MOUZ year"

"It feels amazing to play three finals in a row," the Hungarian AWPer said after beating Eternal Fire.

MOUZ are through to the grand final of BLAST Open Lisbon following a 2-0 victory against Eternal Fire. It's the third final in a row for the young international side, who beat Falcons to the PGL Cluj-Napoca trophy and finished runners-up to Vitality in ESL Pro League 21.
Both maps were close, but MOUZ showed great composure in the closing moments, taking advantage of their greater experience in arena matches.
"When it gets to the stage, maybe the same thing that happened to us last year is happening to them," Ádám "torzsi" Torzsás said about the Turkish outfit. "As I said, they just need more experience. With time, they will get better."
torzsi had several impactful rounds in the series against Eternal Fire, including a quad-kill late on Nuke that took the wind out of Eternal Fire's sails. The Hungarian AWPer, who made the HLTV Top 20 in 2024 for the first time in his career, is averaging a team-high 1.13 rating this year.
"This could be my year, but I hope this will be the MOUZ year," he said. "We want to be the best team of the year. And if it comes with more individual awards or whatever, we will be happy, but I just want to be a better teammate, [i want us to be] a better team, and I want to lift trophies with my team."

MOUZ now await the winner of the other semi-final, pitting Vitality against Spirit. MOUZ are yet to take a map off Vitality in 2025 after three matches, and torzsi is looking for revenge.
"I think it's obvious that I'd like to play Vitality," he said. "It's a grand final in front of a crowd in the arena. It would be huge if we could beat Vitality in this arena and lift the trophy."

A 2-0 victory and you're through to the final, your third final in a row. How does it feel?
It feels amazing to play three finals in a row. It's also exhausting, you know? A lot of travel, a lot of gaming, but this is what we live for. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow, and hopefully, it's going to be a great game because we're going to play either Vitality or Spirit. It will be a great game, I'm sure.
Can you walk me through the series? Both maps were close, but it felt like you were the better team in those key moments, when the pressure was on. It just felt like you were more composed in those situations.
Yeah, I think we were more composed. And also, to be honest, on Nuke T side, we played amazing, and I think Brollan had really good calls, really amazing mid-round calls. There was one round when there were 40 seconds left and it caused us to walk back lobby and it's such an unexpected move and they just leave radio the moment we get back. Really good mid-round. And things like this won us the T side, but on the CT side, we didn't play the best. I don't think I did an amazing job rotating and being in the spots where they were in good timings.
I think maybe xertioN didn't have the best game, but he had a lot of information outside. I think he did a good job on Nuke giving us information. But in some rounds, they were toying with us. They played really well, I have to give it to them. In some rounds we were not sure where they were. They played pretty well as well. We couldn't get the information all the time.
On Dust2, I think we had a really good start on CT side and we had good reads, but we couldn't convert rounds. The kills didn't come to us. And we knew it would be an important Dust2 game. It would be important for tomorrow's final because both Spirit and Vitality play it. So we really wanted to step up and win this Dust2 because it was really important to us. I'm really happy we showed up on the T side and played a great T side. We came back and everyone did their job amazingly.
On Nuke, it seemed like they were going to close it out. It was tied 11-11, and then they did two fast A pushes and you won the map in the end. And on Dust2, there was this round where it was 2v2, XANTARES stayed on the other side of the map while Wicadia was trying to retake the B site all by himself. Do you think that maybe this was the stage factor? Because that was something that also affected your team for a while.
It's a difficult question to answer. Obviously, they don't have too much stage experience, you know? And maybe it affected them, because I think they are really good. They are definitely a top five team at this moment, and they are making playoffs all the time. But when it gets to stage games, maybe the same thing that happened to us last year is happening to them. As I said, they just need more experience. With time, they will get better.
Your transformation as an AWPer has been amazing to see. It feels like you're getting better every year. Last year, you were in the top 20. Do you think that maybe this can be your year?
It could be my year, but I hope this will be the MOUZ year. We want to be the best team of the year. And if it comes with more individual awards or whatever, we will be happy, but I just want to be a better teammate, [i want us to be] a better team, and I want to lift trophies with my team. That is what is important to us and the organization. But it's nice to see that people are stepping up. Me, xertioN, Spinx and also Jimi. I think Brollan is doing his job as well. I know it's cliché, but I want to give props to the players and also the coaching staff. Even though sycrone is not here with us, he's still helping us prepare. And I think Xyp9x is doing a good job.
You said yesterday that you have a star team with five star players. Even though Jimi hasn't been playing at his best level, it still feels like you have more than enough firepower in every match you're playing.
I would agree that maybe Jimi is not the sharpest at the moment or [hasn't been so] lately. We all know it, and he knows it, but we all know what he's capable of, and we are trying to get the best out of him. But he also understands that this is a new team. There are different roles. Of course his roles have stayed the same, but the chemistry is a little bit different, and maybe he needs to find impact in different situations than before. He's also really young, so we are trying to help him, but I think he's also doing a great job, even though he doesn't have a 1.25 rating.
You're now going to face either Vitality or Spirit. Do you have any preferences? You seem to have Spirit's number, but at the same time, you might want to get revenge against Vitality.
I think it's obvious that I'd like to play Vitality. It's a grand final in front of a crowd in the arena. It would be huge if we could beat Vitality in this arena and lift the trophy. It would mean a lot to us to play against them again and show that we can play on that level and even better. Last time we had our chances, but we threw it away. So yeah, I'd like to play Vitality.
